Southern Youth Sports Receives Grant From KC Royals

On July 24th, Southern Youth Sports Board members and their families were invited down to watch the KC Royals play the Tampa Bay Rays.  KC Royals Charities presented a check to Southern Youth Sports in the amount of $5,000 for improvements to McCandless Park in Wymore.

Those attending the game were Dan and Amanda Johnson, Jerad and Dalton; Shawn and Jessica Cooper, Trenton and Brodie; Jay and Jenny Adams, Hunter and Dakota; Donnie and Angela Meyer, Brandon, Preston, and Dalton.

Prior to the game the group was given a tour of the stadium and Alex Gordon, former Husker, met with Southern players and parents.  He signed autographs and took photos with everyone.  The group had seats above 3rd base.  Alex Gordon is the 3rd basemen for the KC Royals.

 

Punt, Pass & Kick Local Competition

GIRLS and BOYS in four separate age divisions (8-9, 10-11, 12-13, and 14-15) compete against each other in punting, passing and kicking in a fun and engaging forum.  This will be held on Saturday, September 6th at 10 am (registration onsite prior to competition) at the Football Field in Wymore (Arbor State Park).  No cleats!

All participants will receive a certificate.  1st, 2nd and 3rd place winners in each division will receive ribbons.  First place winners will advance to the Sectional Competition.  This event is free for all interested and eligible participants.  Sponsored by Southern Youth Sports.
