Wymore Has New Youth Sports Organization

A new corporation has been organized for youth sports program for the Wymore school district. The corporation is called Southern Youth Sports and is 503©tax exempt. This organization was developed to help benefit all youth sports programs. The first priority is to start Little League tackle football for grades 3rd and 4th; and 5th and 6th for the fall of '08. Southern Youth Sports is in the process of applying for grants and doing fundraisers for equipment to start the new football program which will cost approximately $150.00 per child. Southern Youth Sports is also doing fundraisers and applying for grants for Little League Baseball McCandles Park repairs.  NFL Pepsi has already approved Southern Youth Sports to host a Punt, Pass, and Kick in Wymore next year.

Southern Youth Sports is a volunteer-based organization with five Board of Directors.  President: Dan Johnson; Vice-President: Shawn Cooper; Treasurer: Jay Adams; Secretary: Angela Meyer; Board member: Shelly Taylor.

Along with the youth football and baseball programs, Southern Youth Sports may also be a part of the youth boys basketball and wrestling programs as well.  Southern Youth Sports is looking forward to working with all these programs to keep our children interested in healthy activities.

Southern Youth Sports has sent out several letters asking for donations to help fund the program.  If you are interested in donating, please contact any board member.  Another fundraiser that is currently being planned is a BBQ Beef Sandwich meal, which will be held in April at the Wymore Fire Hall.
